Everyone Plays Pool In The APA....
Talk to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. You'll find that they either play in the APA or know someone who does. It'll surprise you! Clerks, secretaries, janitors, lawyers, chiropractors, doctors, waitresses, truck drivers, bank tellers, and even school teachers ... all play pool in the APA Pool League. Over one fourth of APA members are female.
The APA is the World's Largest Amateur Pool League with more members than all other amateur leagues combined. Nationally, the APA currently boasts over 266,500 members (and growing). 2009 was again a year of growth for Northeast Indiana & South Central Michigan APA. We ended the year with over 1065 memberships and over 150 teams playing on a weekly basis. 75% of APA members are beginner to intermediate players, meaning you don't have to be a Pool Pro to play. With the APA's Equalizer® Handicap System everyone has an equal chance of winning.

The American Poolplayers Association (APA) is proud to announce they have signed a sponsorship agreement with The Black Widow, Jeanette Lee. The APA made the announcement Monday at their annual League Operator Convention in Las Vegas.
“We’re very excited to work with The Black Widow. We believe her image transcends the sport of pool, and we believe she will encourage non-poolplayers to pick up a cue and give our leagues a try,” said APA Public Relations Manager Jason Bowman.
Lee will be the official spokesperson for the APA and APA Pool Leagues and will appear in advertisements, commercials and other promotional materials encouraging people to compete in an APA Pool League.

Indiana General Assembly is working on House Bill 1213
A watered-down version of a statewide smoking ban passed the Indiana House on Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2009), but its proponents vowed to pressure lawmakers in the Senate to strengthen the bill.
As introduced, House Bill 1213 would have banned smoking in all workplaces across the state, but the version that passed the House includes exemptions for bars, casinos, horse tracks and off-track betting parlors.
HB 1213 would require casinos to set aside 20 percent of their space for nonsmokers and would allow nursing homes to have smoking areas. Restaurants that serve alcohol would have to prohibit customers younger than 18 if they choose to continue allowing smokers, or else ban smoking outright.
The measure now moves to the Senate after the 70-26 House vote.
Our question: How does this affect you? Tell us if you are a smoker or not, and what you think of House Bill 1213.
